Introducing Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a new and exciting way to straighten your teeth....WITHOUT WIRES or those ugly braces!. Only 6% of the dentists in the U.S. are now certified to provide Invisalign®, the first wireless braces. I am now one of those chosen few. Invisalign® is totally invisible and can give you the beautiful, straight smile you’ve always wanted. It works through a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So you can smile more during treatment as well as after.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

  • You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.

  • As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position we have prescribed.

  • You’ll visit our office about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

  • ·Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

Why Invisalign®?

  • Invisible, so no one can tell you’re straightening your teeth. So now you can smile more during treatment as well as after.

  • Removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are no problem.

  • Comfortable, because it has no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments.

  • Invisalign® also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

Deep Bleaching

Next is the addition of Deep Bleaching to our whitening protocol. This is a new technique that provides a much greater degree of whitening than previously available especially for those difficult cases or for those of you who would just like your teeth even whiter than previously possible. we use specially designed trays that are worn basically at night. The results have been spectacular. Please ask Sheryl or Maureen about this exciting new technique.

Diagnodent

Diagnodent is an early decay detection device that provides us with the tools to find decay before it becomes a serious treatment issue. Using laser technology, Diagnodent is painless and can help us prevent costly future dental treatment. The next time you are in the office ask us for a demonstration of this exciting new technology.

A New Concept in Oral Cancer Screening - ViziLite by Zila Pharmaceuticals (http://www.zila.com)

As always we try to bring you the most up to date information and technology available as relates to your total dental health. There is a new product and technology that is now available that I would like to bring to your attention.

The product is called ViziLite
and is produced by Zila Pharmaceuticals, Vizilite is an early oral cancer screening tool. Most people are surprised to learn that oral cancer is the sixth deadliest cancer in America, taking more lives per year than cancers thought far more lethal–melanoma, Hodgkin’s disease or cervical cancer. That’s why the American Dental Association has made oral cancer a top priority.

Oral cancer is far too often discovered in late stage development, the primary reason for the high death rate. Even when caught while still curable, oral cancer can have potentially disfiguring effects on patients, seriously compromising their quality of life. Early diagnosis can make a large difference in life expectancy; oral cancer is 90% curable when found early. Unfortunately, 70% of oral cancers are diagnosed in the late stages, and 52% of those diagnosed will die within five years.

The exam is quick and painless. You first rinse with the ViziLite
solution for 60 seconds and expectorate. Then the ViziLite light stick is activated. The room lights are dimmed as much as possible and we examine the oral cavity using the ViziLite device. We look for white areas which may indicate a change in the oral tissues.

We would suggest that all patients over the age of 40 and all patients that smoke or drink somewhat in excess should have this type of exam once a year. Anyone else that wishes to avail themselves of this new diagnostic tool are certainly welcome to use it as well.
