What Are Porcelain
Laminate Veneers
Do you have worn, discolored or damaged teeth? Are you afraid to
smile? Do you wish you had the same smile as a friend or
neighbor? Take a look at what others have said
Well, now you can! Over the past few years the dental profession has devised
a simple, relatively inexpensive way to repair damaged teeth in just two quick
visits. Much like replacing a lost fingernail, porcelain laminates can be used
to correct ugly tooth color, chipped teeth and even extreme tooth rotation. Not
a place for orthodontics but a substitute for those that do not want to wear
braces.

Visit One - Tooth Preparation and Temporization
On your first visit, your teeth will be reduced by about .5 millimeters.
(Non-prep veneers are now also available in some situations. Please take a look
at Lumineers for more information) With traditional
veneers, since tooth structure is removed, the
procedure is not reversible. Once your teeth are prepared, an impression
will be taken and then sent to a cosmetic dental laboratory for the porcelain
laminates veneers to be made. During that period you will have temporaries
that will mimic the final result. Think of these as a "Veneer Test Drive". This
is a great time to make any changes that you feel will give you the Smile you
have always wanted. It's just that easy!

Visit Two - Veneer Placement
From a few days to a week or so later, your new
veneers will arrive. We will first try them on to make sure that 1) they fit
appropriately and 2) you are pleased with the result. Then, and only then, we
will place your laminates. After about an hour or so you new veneers will be in
place. Now it's time to go home and show everyone your new smile. After a week
or so you will return for any "fine tuning" you may feel is necessary to give
you that great smile you have always wanted.
