One Visit Mini Implants
How Are They Done?

Are you embarrassed by your loose dentures?
Are you afraid to eat or even smile?
Mini Dental Implants may be the answer!
Mini-implants
are basically smaller implants that are placed without the need for any major
surgical procedure. The process takes only two visits. During the initial visit
impressions are taken of the potential implant area. A panoramic x-ray (a large
x-ray that shows the entire upper and lower jaw one just one film) is taken and
used to plan implant placement.
At
your next visit a surgical template is used to place the implants in the proper
location. Mini-implants can be used with new or existing dentures and can
provide immediate stability for those loose and uncomfortable dentures.
Mini dental Implants offer patients a one step
solution to replacing teeth. Acting as the root of the tooth, the implant is
placed so the ball-shaped top protrudes out of the gums. This allows the patient
to snap dentures in and out of their mouth, facilitating removal and cleaning.
And because the dentures are secured to implants, they provide a level of
comfort and stability you never thought possible.
Is it Painful?
Since the surgery is only minimal in nature, post
operative pain is kept to a real minimum. These situations can normally be easily managed
with simple over the counter analgesics.
How long does it take for them to work?
Mini-implants are ready to be used immediately.
Over time they will continue to integrate with your jaw much like other dental
implants.
What is the success rates?
Success rates obviously vary from individual to
individual and even within the same person relative to the type of bone,
location and general health of the individual. Smoking is a definite problem
when implant healing is concerned. Osseointegration, the latest form of implant
placement, has been done for over twenty years and boasts very high success
rates in healthy, non-smoking patients.
Should you have any additional questions please
either email or call. We will be happy to help in any way we can to assist you
in making the appropriate treatment decision.
Am I A Candidate?
Today there are relatively few contraindications
to implant placement. Some of these include uncontrolled diabetes, blood
dyscrasias (bleeding problems), autoimmune diseases and smoking. Smokers tend to
have poor healing ability and therefore it is preferred that implant patients be
non-smokers. For other contraindications we will need to discuss this further
during your pre-treatment consultation.
