As a Prosthodontic office we very often are called to fabricate full upper or lower dentures for those patients that have unusual problems or have been unsuccessful in the past with their current dentures.

Dentures fall into two basic categories:

Full Dentures: These prostheses are constructed when there are no teeth present. Sometimes it is necessary to fabricate an immediate denture (either upper, lower or both). This type of denture is placed the same day that all remaining teeth are removed.

More typically, dentures are constructed when there are no teeth present. Our office believes that it is important to allow the patient to see the final result before we actually process and finish the prosthesis. Therefore you will have the final say as to esthetics and phonetics while the denture is still in wax. At this time any and all changes can be made. It is only after you accepted the esthetics and phonetics that we process and finish the denture(s).

Partial Dentures: These types of prostheses are fabricated when there are teeth still present in the jaw but one or more teeth need to be replaced.

There are numerous types of partial dentures but all of them need to use the natural teeth, in one way or another, to retain the removable section. Partial removable dentures can have metal or tooth colored (or gum colored) clasps or can be used in conjunction with caps (crowns) to hide these clasps or hooks so that cosmetically no metal is displayed.
